Born and raised in London, Michelle Claire Ryan expressed an affinity for acting while still in grade school. By the time she was 10 years old, Michelle joined a community theater group and was eagerly taking on roles in a wide variety of stage productions. A few years later, Michelle began auditioning for local television shows and film shoots. Her hard work paidoff in 2000 after she was added to the cast of the long-running UK-based soap opera EastEnders. By the time she finally left the program five years later, Michelle had appeared in a whopping 317 episodes -- firmly establishing herself as a talented up-and-comer among British audiences. In 2006, Michelle made her cinematic debut with an appearance in the indie drama Cashback, and followed that up with a small but pivotal role in the hit comedy I Want Candy, alongside Carmen Electra. After landing several increasingly high-profile roles -- including a spot in the BBC’s much-ballyhooed Jekyll miniseries -- Michelle was cast in the central role of NBC’s Bionic Woman update. Picking up where '70's actress Lindsay Wagner left off, Michelle took on the role of Jamie Sommers, an athlete who is fitted with bionic parts after a life-threatening injury and subsequently uses her abilities to help others.
